Okay, so you’ve finally worked up your courage to ask, actually been accepted and now you’re about to go on that all important first date. Having come this far, now you start to worry about how you can keep the interest going strong? Well, before you finalize your dating location you might want to consider making a list of things to do on a date. These can range from what type of food you want to eat to the kind of entertainment that you think will make your first date memorable (in the right way).
As first dates are somewhat nerve racking you may be wise to keep the level of excitement to a minimum. A first date is where you really begin to get to know your date. You discover more about their likes and dislikes, what their various opinions and plans or dreams are. Also you’ll get a feel of whether they’re really interested in you. The pressure is quite intense as this is the first step to any successful relationship.
Public places like parks can provide you with many things to do on a date. You can arrange a special picnic and spend time talking about your interests. The after you have eaten, take a leisurely stroll around the park with an ice cream, maybe even feed the ducks and use this time to discuss what other things that you would like to do on the rest of your date.
Other casual things to do on a first date include going to a movie. If you have divergent tastes, it may be wise to let your date choose the movie and try not to look too bored whilst you are watching it. Or maybe you could both make a selection of movies and leave it to fate by drawing a movie name out of a hat to see which one you will see.
Whilst extreme adventure dates might appeal to a lot of people, it’s not always wise to choose this for a first date, maybe until you get to know each other better, you should keep the adventure level down a notch. An amusement park or a fair with all of its different rides can add some of fairly safe thrills to your date though. For example taking a rollercoaster ride together can add a dimension of romance to your date as you get to hold your partner tight (providing that neither of you are absolutely terrified of roller coasters). The thrills of an amusement park can sometimes bring just the right spark of adventure to a first date.
For more romantic things to do on a first date you might decide to take a walk on a sunset beach. As there are likely to be very few people on the beach at that time you can make your date feel extra special by paying more attention to them. (Remember that by paying attention to them I mean looking into their face and eyes when you are talking to them, not ogling their body). Going to a cosy but well lit restaurant will provide a nice ambience and background setting for you both to have the opportunity to talk about your future plans, what you want from life, and begin to see if you have any chance of having a successful relationship. You should definitely make certain that no awkward moments arise by keeping the conversational ball rolling – (this doesn’t mean talking only about your own goals all of the time, ask your date questions about themselves, their family, their hopes, whatever they seem comfortable to tell you about themselves. Showing an active interest in someone will always make them feel that they really are special to you).
Whilst there are many things that you can choose to do on a date, perhaps the most important one is to try to make sure that you’re both enjoying your time together. The best way to ensure that your date’s interest in you hasn’t vanished by the end of your time together, is to plan a fun filled date but where you leave space for you both to have the chance to talk about yourselves a little so that you can get to know each other better.
