Interior Painting Ideas

Redecorating or renovating your house is never an easy task, although it can be a hugely rewarding one. Having said this, it may feel a little more tedious when you need to paint as well. Unless you are one of the fortunate people who find this activity therapeutic, applying one coat of paint after another can be draining if you’re determined to do it yourself, especially if this is due to lack of funds rather than desire and if you still have the whole house to consider. (Let’s not even mention the ceilings!) But even if you prefer to stick to the same staid exterior paint job for fear of public reaction, you could always try some really different interior painting ideas. If nothing else you’ll be guaranteed a reaction from all who enter your house and if you are not too keen on the painting side of things, it can really brighten up this chore.

By opting to keep the exterior painting to a bare minimum, doing only the work that is absolutely necessary, you can expend more energy and use your harnessed creativity on the inside. You really can let your imagination run riot with all those interior painting ideas you always wanted to implement but never got around to. Maybe try a little stencilling or floor and furniture painting. There’s no time like the present, and really, when are you going to need to paint your house again? I guess though if you stick to the tried and trusted, you can be reasonably assured that it won’t be for a good few years, whereas if you try something different you may feel the need to re-do it sooner as you grow confident to try even newer and more adventurous things.

Don’t get alarmed at talk of this new world of interior painting ideas I’m not suggesting that you should try something that might resemble a Picasso painting here. I’m talking about something more along the lines of a paint job that will reflect who you are and highlight your taste. So your interior painting ideas need not be anything bolder than a splash of vibrant colour on one wall surrounded by blended, soothing colours on the other walls.

This works very well in any house and the vibrant colour that you pick out can be either one step away from soothing or pretty primal depending on your taste and what you want to show of yourself. If you are feeling particularly outrageous or adventurous, you could of course always go to extremes, painting all of the walls a bright vibrant shade or maybe mixing and matching different shades on the walls. (Word of caution, if you’re thinking of doing this then you might want to really consider the effect this will have and whether you can actually live with the colour scheme you are chosing).

Wild and inspired interior painting ideas are all well and good, but do take into account whether you’re going to be able stand the sight of your newly panted walls or not. If you have to repaint everything almost immediately, it kind of defeats the object you set out to achieve. This doesn’t mean that you should put a hold on your creativity or stifle your interior painting ideas, only that before applying some of the bolder ideas you have, that maybe you should try a small test-run somewhere.

Try not to think of painting your house as a chore, and if it helps, you can always pretend that you’re Michelangelo or Da Vinci or any other one of the great artists. Maybe you could even turn your hand to painting a stunning mural on your walls. The only requirement here is that you turn your great interior painting ideas into reality and that you have you fun while you’re doing it.
