Redecorating your house isn’t always so easy especially when you become stuck for ideas. If you hit this blank wall (excuse the pun), the only way to really get over this hiatus in interior design ideas is to sit back, put your feet up and have some coffee. Seriously, there’s absolutely no real substitute for creating a fresh perspective on things. In the first place you become more relaxed when you take a complete break from things, and I don’t know of many people for whom a steaming cup of coffee (or tea) isn’t always a welcome distraction.
While you’re sitting down comfortably and getting into a relaxed state, close your eyes and conjure up an image of the room that you want to redecorate. Even if you’re doing more than one room, it’s always a good idea to start with one room first working your way logically through to the next one and so on. As an aside, before you start on your journey through the land of interior design ideas, keep a notebook and pencil to hand so that you can jot down any inspirational ideas you have before you forget them or maybe make a note of a particular paint or curtain style / shade.
So just sit back, relax and picture that room in your mind. Try to see it as you would like it to look. If that’s too hard, then maybe just try to replace separate bits and pieces in your imaginary picture of it. This is always a good way to work. If you’re still experiencing a mental drought on interior design ideas though, try to leaf through some interior design magazines so that you have at least some kind of idea of what types of things you can do to change your room.
Actually the interior design magazines need not really be anything more impressive than the Home Furnishing section of your local department store catalogue. Then again, these days there are plenty of specialist stores which cater solely to the art of redecorating your home. If you have the time to take a quick run down to one of these, this should really help to end the dearth of interior design ideas, and can possibly help to get you kick started (for a price).
These stores will have staged samples of many designs, giving you a really good idea of what your room could look like. If you’re going to one of these places though go prepared to spend a little money at least, as no matter how tight a hand you keep on your pocket, you’re sure to find something you want to buy. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but unless you watch out you could end up buying out the store. (Without a proper idea of what you want your room to look like, let’s face it, this could prove to be disastrous).
Hey Ho, not to worry too much though, if you just keep your goal in mind you can come back and get a start on redecorating your rooms the way you want. Maybe even now that you’ve managed to at least get some interior design ideas on what you want your rooms to look like, your whole redecorating project should be that much easier and more fun!
