Wow, I love this kind of day, the house is finally clean and you put your feet up for a minute with an aromatic cup of coffee in front of you and pick away at your muffin. You feel tired but a bit exhilarated because you know you’ve done a hard day’s work and you have no regrets about it. That great feeling of contentment settles over you and you look around with satisfaction. A magazine is lying tantalizingly within reach and you give in for just a few minutes and pull it towards you, intending to fully enjoy your well-deserved rest. The main cover story jumps right out at you, Oh Boy! “Country Home Décor and Your Home”.
Naturally you flip through eagerly to that very section, because it’s all the rage at the moment and you had just seen an article on turning your house into a small country haven in another magazine which interested you. Page upon page of this magazine is filled with what can only be categorized as the perfect country homes of your imagination. So now you can’t help but gaze longingly at the various styles and furnishings you see gracing the magazine pages.
A quick glance around from your magazine assures you that your own modest abode hasn’t been magically changed into one of those lovely homes you were just looking at. A little sigh passes your lips over this disappointment and you go back to gazing at the magazine spread. Actually you hadn’t really thought that you were a person who could stand the whole country home décor style, but now upon reflection you think that you might just be able to after all.
Without your even realising it you begin marking the pages that interest you most, and make a few mental calculations on how you may be able to achieve the same effect on your modest budget. After all it simply wouldn’t do to spring for that lovely dresser and have to go-without the freshly ground whole bean coffee now, would it?
You start thinking you could certainly go for that appealing table runner without any problem. Hey I guess if you donated all your modern chrome coffee mugs and futuristic dinner sets to charity then you wouldn’t really be splurging would you? After all you’d have done your bit for charity and donated all these things so unselfishly.
Then it comes to exchanging your jazzy blinds for something that’s a little bit more in the whole country home décor style, and while you’re at it you simply must exchange that ugly lampshade you received as a house-warming gift for something a little more laid back and country.
At the end of this day-dream the only thing left for you to do is sit back and enjoy the fruits of your imaginary labours and gaze with beaming pride upon your newly redecorated home, seeing it as it would look furnished in the best of country home décor style that you could cull from every source that you came across, (like that first magazine which spurred it all).
