Bathroom Decorating Ideas

The last time you decorated your bathroom was probably some time ago as this is not a project to be undertaken lightly. Decorating ideas and motifs were most likely either pretty basic or truly surreal. So now that you’ve decided to redo your bathroom again you may find yourself a bit overwhelmed with the choice available. So will you go the safe route and choose a neutral colour scheme that may not overly appeal to everybody, but certainly won’t upset their sensibilities, or will you go out on a limb and choose something that’s really different and maybe appeals only to you?

The main advantage you’ll find with choosing the safe route is that your colour scheme is very unlikely to look outdated as the years go by. At least, this is the way that most of us think. In reality, things are not often that simple and it’s quite possible that you’ll find that the ‘safe colours’ you thought were so fantastic this year will look pretty outdated within the next few years. Having said that, what happens if you choose the more vibrant eye catching colours? Will you be able tot look upon those with any more favour as the years go by? The answer again is, “probably not”.

After all the human mind is prone to change its likes and dislikes at the drop of a hat, so most of the time you’ll just have to go with the flow. Besides, remember our tolerance levels sometimes change as we get older and just because you’ve managed to block out that absolutely hideous paisley curtain from your mind every time you brushed your teeth for the past eternity, doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to do the same again with the next thing that you wake up to find yourself hating.

Over the years you may well have developed a knack for not seeing what’s right in front of your face, maybe you’ve even got to the point where you every time you see your bathroom, decorating ideas and any stray thoughts of redoing it go flying out the window. It’s simply going to be too much hassle and maybe you just can’t be bothered. Sure the DIY stores and crafts-masters will tell you it’s easy, but you know better. Nothing is as easy and as simple as they make it out to be. Take heart, this may have been true once upon a time, but not really any more.

Redoing your bathroom really can be simple and doesn’t need to take that long. If you are working and need to fit in this project to your spare time, you can even stagger the redecorating work so that you can finish it comfortably over a few weekends. And if you can get as far as thinking that, then the next time you look at your bathroom, decorating ideas should be lying thick on the floor just waiting to be assimilated into your plans.

Decorating, fine, however, if you’re thinking of doing any major plumbing works I’d recommend hiring a professional plumber to come and do the job. You really wouldn’t want to risk having this little jaunt into redoing your bathroom to turn into an utter catastrophe and unfortunately plumbing can be pretty complex and can go wrong only too easily (as most of us know to our horror).

Once you actually get started on your bathroom, decorating ideas will flow fast and furious from your newly fertile mind and it may well be all you can do to stem the flow. So although you might think for now that you will settle for one particular colour scheme, you may find that when the decorating itch overtakes you next, you won’t be as quick to settle for the conventional. After all, after completing this project, you will know just how easy it can be these days, and believe me when you know that, there’s likely to be absolutely no stopping you! So have fun.
